Enable Developer Mode in ChatGPT
First, you need to enable developer mode to create custom apps in ChatGPT.
Steps to enable developer mode:
- Open ChatGPT and click on your profile picture
- Go to Settings → Apps
- Open Advanced settings
- Toggle on Developer mode

Get Your GetTranscribe API Key
You'll need your GetTranscribe API key to authenticate the connection.
How to get your API key:
- Log into your GetTranscribe dashboard
- Follow the API key guide to generate your key
- Create a new API key (name it "ChatGPT" for easy identification)
- Copy the generated API key (starts with gtr_)
- Keep this key safe - you'll need it in the next step
Create the GetTranscribe App in ChatGPT
Now we'll add GetTranscribe as a custom app pointing to the GetTranscribe MCP server.
Create the app:
- In ChatGPT Settings, go to Apps
- Next to Advanced settings, click Create app
- Name it GetTranscribe
- In Connection, select Server URL and paste: https://mcp.gettranscribe.ai/mcp
- In Authentication, select OAuth — no Client ID or Secret needed, the settings are discovered automatically
- Check "I understand and want to continue" and click Create
Connect and authorize:
- ChatGPT opens the GetTranscribe consent page in your browser
- Enter your API key (gtr_...) and press Authorize
- You're redirected back to ChatGPT with the app connected via OAuth

❓ Connection fails during OAuth?
Double-check that your API key is correct and starts with gtr_. Complete the authorization in the same browser where the consent page opened — the link expires after 10 minutes and only works once. If the issue persists, generate a new API key and reconnect from Settings → Apps.
❓ GetTranscribe doesn't appear in the composer?
